What is the Montessori Philosophy of Education?

Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian teacher and physician, believed that children would develop and thrive at their own pace, if given the proper tools and support. After careful, scientific observations of children from around the world, Montessori developed her method of teaching with the potential of the child in mind. She believed in the basic idea that children must have freedom to explore their physical, intellectual and spiritual potential to become the person they will become.
